What Scan&Stick is
Scan&Stick is an educational app for nurses learning ultrasound-guided peripheral IV access. It runs entirely on your iPhone. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server operated by us.
What the app stores, and where
The app stores on your device:
- Log entries you create about your own procedures and phantom practice: placement result, number of skin punctures, equipment, site, measurements you choose to enter, technique details, difficulty tags, a preceptor-present flag, a question you write for your educator, and technique notes.
- Learning progress: which lessons you opened, bookmarked, or marked complete, and which scenarios you completed.
- Settings, including your catheter inventory if you add one, and your practice goals.
All of this lives in the app's local database on your phone. We cannot see it. The app does not send it anywhere.
Patient information
The app has no fields for patient names, record numbers, dates of birth, room numbers, or other identifiers, and asks you not to type them into the notes. Please do not. The app is for recording your own technique, not patient records.
When data leaves your phone
Only when you choose:
- Export. You can export your entries as a CSV file through the iOS share sheet. Where it goes is up to you.
- Educator summary. You can share a summary as text or PDF. It contains counts and totals for a period you choose, the questions and practice goals you select, and your learning counts. It does not contain timestamps, notes, or individual entries.
- Device backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, the app's database is included in that backup under Apple's terms, like any other app's data.
Purchases
Learner Pro and Educator are one-time purchases made through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and holds the receipt. The app checks your purchase status with Apple to unlock features. We do not receive your name, payment details, or your log as part of a purchase. The app's receipt screen shows information from your own Apple transaction so you can claim reimbursement.
What we do not do
- No analytics or tracking.
- No advertising.
- No third-party software development kits that collect data.
- No access to HealthKit, contacts, photos, location, or the microphone.
- No sale or sharing of data, because we have none.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app schedules local reminders on your phone for the 1 hour and 4 hour checks. These are generated and delivered on the device; no notification service of ours is involved.
Children
The app is intended for healthcare professionals and is not directed at children.
Deleting your data
Delete entries individually in the Log, or delete everything in Settings. Deleting the app removes its local database from your phone. Backups you made earlier are under your control.
This website
scanandstick.com uses no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party scripts or fonts. Our web host, Netlify, processes standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site and keep it secure. If you email us, we receive your address and your message, and we use them only to reply.
Changes
If the app ever adds a feature that moves data off the device, this policy will change first and the app will say so on screen before the feature is used.
